LEAGUE
Eternal 2 - 1 PSFC (Fergus, Fergus)
Eternal grab first league win of the
season as powerhouse striker Fergus found the net twice against PSFC.
Fergus Gotama shocked the
Korean team with an opener in the 10th minute after a long ball from Irawan.
Eternal started to play less open. But the Korean side remained resilient. They
regained their composure, and continued pressing to give their opponent
something hard to think about during half-time.
PSFC began the second-half with the similar high
pressing game. The Korean side were beginning to pose some threat with continuous
smart one-touch play. Things were not getting better with the substitution of injured
Rusdi. Eternal were losing possession of the ball too many and too quick in the
middle of the field.
However, in their haste to find an equalizer,
PSFC went two behind. It was Fergus
who successfully converted a splitting through pass from right back, Enrico
into a counter-attack to the Korean’s high line defense. The powerhouse galloped
and outran PSFC’s last defender like he had no limits, before calmly placed it
over the keeper.
The second goal did not deter PSFC to keep playing
possession football to unlock Eternal’s defense. Exhaustion among Eternal
players said it all. PSFC’s effort finally bore a fruit. Park Joon Hyung was
able to find the back of Oman’s net through a well set play, leaving Eternal’s defenders
beaten. 2-1! When the time was almost run out, the pressure was back on for
Eternal. No nonsense clearance and some harsh fouls to PSFC players were made
to maintain the lead. Two crucial chances to equalize, a strike from
Lee Seung Min, was way over the bar, and one free-header was saved by brave Oman.
The referee, Morales blew the full-time whistle. A
goal from the top scorer, Park was not enough, and smiling faces of the victorious
side tell the story. FT: Eternal 2 -1 PSFC!
