'There was very little resistance from Melbourne FC side and we were 2-0 up by halftime.
The first goal was scored by the red hot form striker, Adam ! Scoring goal, seems like an easy affair which requires only little effort. Five goals in four matches, his record is enough to prove that he's deadly and one of the biggest contender for the golden boots award.

The second goal was scored by (thin) Albert not long after he had replaced Anthony (who was feeling not too well that afternoon). Not only he scored a goal but his blistering pace and unpredictable movement had brought much terror to Melbourne FC's defence.

Albert : gw gak maruk , pass bola ke gw donk.

In the second half, they scored one goal to cut our lead to 2-1. However, that did not deter us from attacking. Then, Mono scored the most magnificent goal ever. A thunderous strike to the far post , the ball rocketed past the keeper and he had no chance to save that meteor. Superb goal.

Then, Melbourne FC managed to take advantage of our mistake and we were heavily punished by conceding another goal. Credit to Phillip's brilliance, he reedemed our earlier mistake and the score was 4-2. Phillip was another outstanding individual on that match, he penetrated the defence countless times and provided many aerial service to our strikers.

Phillip - with brand new boots , MiAddidas !

Played for less than 45 minutes, Chris had already displayed his vision by distributing the ball to players with space particulary the wingers (Mono and Phillip).

Chris- Steven Gerrard !

Another individual deserving a highlight : Steven, the gattusso of our team, was exceptional and made his presence known in the midfield.

Not only the names mentioned above played well but all of the players had put up a great performance. Dicky, JP, Yoko, Frederick, Brian, Rusdi, Anthony, Andrew! '

Man of the match (editor's pick) : Mono
I had a hard time deciding between Mono, Phillip and Steven. They all had a great game but after considering Mono's goal, my pick goes to Mono.

Now, study hard for your examination (unless you dont have one) ! Success on the field will be much sweeter if we also excel academically, yea? Once you finish exam, report for training and prepare yourself for future matches. We need you !

A message from Phillip:

Dear all Eternals,

First let me congratulate everyone on reaching the Semi-Finals of the Holmes Cup. It is a first for Eternal FC(EFC*). You can't imagine how proud i am of you guys.

Well boys, what can i say? 3 straight wins for any football team is truly a fete. 3 points for the league and consecutive cup matches wins really show how well we can adapt to different games.

Despite how much we've achieved in the last 3 weeks, we still have a lot of hard work ahead of us. We must keep our heads down and continue to maintain this momentum of success. EFC* still has one league match before our bye. The week after we face Gaucho in the Holmes Cup Semi-Finals. The next 3 weeks are vital. We have to get to the top of the table to gain some breathing space and that includes grabbing 3 points from Melbourne FC this weekend.

On our BYE weekend we'll be having practice as usual and i should expect the same enthusiasm as game day. The time i set is 10 am. That means players arrive at 10 to get dressed and ready to warm up by10:15. Those who are late are advised that laps will be involved. Those who wish to miss training without a valid excuse will NOT play in the Semi-Finals Holmes Cup. We have to be in it, to it win it guys, and that means knowing you tried your best; not only during game day but training too. Everyone has been so courteous in contributing faults and problems with the team. So now we have to practice what we preach, boys. We already have done half the work by identifying it, we just need to carry through with it.

We can do it guys. Evidently, we've shown what our team is worth. Other Indo teams are even more so wary of us. We have to remain consistent throughout the year.

All i'm asking is to keep our heads down and continue working hard. Just because we've won a couple of matches doesn't mean we're the best. Remember guys, keep the momentum going. Don't give up, if you're really hungry for a trophy.

Sincerely,
Phillip See

Similaryly, if any one of you has any thought/opinion to share with the team, feel free to email me to post it in the blog. The blog belongs to the team.

Eternal FC 2-2 Spirit
(Eternal FC won 4-2 penalty shooutout)
Goal: Adam(2) (Yes again and not a typo!)

Every game, for 3 consecutive weeks, we conceded a penalty. And In similar manner, we led in terms of score and had much of the ball posession in the first half but had to defend so intensively in the second half. The fact that we conceded 3 penalties in 3 games speaks great volumes of our approach under pressure, a great indication that we have to learn to improve the way we start the second half and not let complacency let our guards down.

On a lighter note, we won all 3 games. This victory against Spirit is equally gratifying as the previous two. Bravo to all Eternal FC players and supporters !

'In the first half, we were attacking them most of the time. Phillip and Mono provided great width and gave them a lot of problems in both flanks. They had beaten the defenders and created a few chances for themselves which were saved by the goalkeeper.

In the frontline, Adam was always a threat to them. Blessed with such a great pace and flair, our new hitman scored both goals after beating their highly reputable goalkeeper. Thus, the new nickname, Adambayor!

In the back, we had our share of problems but JP, Brian, Yoko and Frederick kept our defence tight.

In the second half, we were caught off guard and they scored their first goal which gave them a great boost. Both sets of supporters were trying to outroar the other. A few minute away from the conclusion of the game, Effandy conceded a rather impulsive mistake. They made no mistake from the spot kick and our 2-0 lead were cut to 2-2. We were forced to penalty shootout.

Spirit 1st taker missed. Rusdi hit top right hand corner.
Spirit 2nd taker missed. Phillip striked the ball hard and accurately into the net.
Spirit 3rd taker scored. Mono put the ball into the back of the net with an ease.
Spirit 4th taker score. Effandy reedemed his 'sin'.

All Eternal FC players and supporters screamed hysterically, exchanged hi-five and cuddled (not caring that we might be branded gay. No offense to gay people). '

Man of the match(Editor's pick) : Rusdi
In both halves, he was an individual that stand out among the rest.
Rusdi displayed his top-notch class with his superb creative playmaking. He was the chief architecture for both goals and most of our attacks. He stringed our passes together, distributed the ball accordingly, dictated and controled the game's tempo. What's lacking was goals which he was very close to score in couple of occassions. Rusdi's not only a great team-player, he had also demonstrated array of dazzling skills and tricky footwork to get past Spirit's defenders.

Next, we are facing Melbourne FC (league game).

Prepare youself (eg. Phillip had training on Tuesday) but if you cant afford to spare some time for training, the least you can do is: do your assignment now, eat well and rest well.

FA Cup Final (19 March) . Champions League Final (24th March). Meet up ?

Eternal 2-1 Kooyong A
Goal: Adam(2)

A mirrored result of the 1st match ! In a similar manner as the previous match, we had a very good possession of the ball and scored the first through Adam's brilliant volley. Shortly after that, Kooyong A was awarded with a penalty. Credit to our goalkeeper, Dicky saved the penalty in magficent style. Very good save. Unfortunately, Before the end of the second half, they managed to equalise through a supperb effort from their right winger.

Then, we have to admire the speech given by their manager/captain during the halftime because it sure gave them a boost on the second half. We were heavily attacked and had very little possession. I would like to give credits to all defenders, JP in particular. JP stood firm and was the commander-in-charge to our impregnable fortress defence. In the frontline, thin Albert and Adam had to be Kooyong A's defenders worst nightmare. Thin Albert and Adam were superior in pace and better ball control. One long ball for them was enough, Adam capitalised on the counter-attack and dashed Kooyong A's dream from the quarter-final.

Against all odds, without Fergus and Chris, Eternal FC annihilated Kooyong A. A prove that we have great character and depth in squad. Not only the first eleven but all of us were ready to play in competitive level. Salute to all Eternal FC players and supporters.

The game was also our first victory against them. A memorable one, especially the two brilliant goals from Adam and they were enough to demolish them.

2-1 victory against Hade and Kooyong A? I hope we did give a loud and clear indication to the rest of the teams. On our side, lets not be complacent because there are still many games ahead of us.

Man of the match(Editor's pick): Adam
I had a hard time deciding between JP, Adam and Mono. But i think Adam deserved it this time. 2 goals and terrorised their defence throughout the whole game !

I will post the fixtures tomorrow, sorry for the delay !
